On December 6, 2024, at the SECC Exhibition Center, the events “Vietnam Landscape Architecture Trends Seminar 2025” and the “Award Ceremony for Outstanding Landscape Architecture Graduation Projects 2024” took place, bringing together managers, businesses, educators, and students from across the country!

These events aimed to better promote the role and significance of Vietnam’s Landscape Architecture field in research and professional practice, as well as to share the expertise of professionals in the industry. With the support of the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Vietnam Society of Landscape Architect collaborated with sponsors to organize the “Vietnam Landscape Architecture Trends Seminar 2025” and the “Award Ceremony for Outstanding Landscape Architecture Graduation Projects 2024.”

These programs are part of the Home & Garden Expo—a large-scale and highly prestigious exhibition in Vietnam focusing on interior design, gardening technologies, and landscape design.

Attending the seminar were:

  • Architect Nguyễn Trường Lưu – Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Architects and President of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Architects.
  • Ms. Nguyễn Thu Hồng – General Manager of Vinexad National Trade Fair And Advertising Joint Stock Company

Representing the Vietnam Society of Landscape Architect were:

  • Dr. Architect Phạm Anh Tuấn – President of the Vietnam Society of Landscape Architect
  • Architect Nguyễn Thái Thuận Hiền – Vice President of the Vietnam Society of Landscape Architect
  • Architect Phạm Thị Ái Thủy – Executive Committee Member of the Vietnam Society of Landscape Architect

In addition, members of the Chapter, representatives from businesses, universities, students, and guests from the exhibition also participated in the event.

Throughout the preparation and execution of the seminar, the organizing committee received 14 articles covering various specialized topics within the field of landscape architecture from experts and professional groups actively researching and practicing nationwide. All submissions were edited, proofread, and published in the book “Vietnam Landscape Architecture Trends.”

The focus of the seminar was on professional presentations delivered by four speakers, each specializing in different areas of landscape architecture.

Dr. Ngô Anh Đào presented her paper titled “Urban Gardens: Creating a Space for Interaction and a Miniature Society of Compromise.”

Architect Quách Hoài Phong presented his paper titled “Sustainable Design Trends in Public Art and Landmark Architecture in Vietnam.”

Master Đặng Đình Trạm presented his paper titled “Bamboo Wood – An Ecological Material for Sustainable Landscape Architecture.”

Architect Phạm Ngọc Thắng presented his paper titled “Landscape Architecture Trends for Brownfield Restoration in Vietnam: Lessons from the World.”

The President of the Vietnam Society of Landscape Architect moderated a panel discussion with the speakers.

Following the seminar was the Award Ceremony for Outstanding Landscape Architecture Graduation Projects 2024.

In an effort to promote the spirit of learning, competition, and create a healthy platform for landscape architecture students to exchange and learn, the Vietnam Society of Landscape Architect decided to organize the 2024 Outstanding Landscape Architecture Graduation Project Award. The competition received great attention and support from numerous esteemed educators and students from prestigious universities across the country, and especially from the enthusiastic backing of the sponsors.

To organize the Outstanding Landscape Architecture Graduation Project Award, from its initial stages to the present, the organizing committee has received not only support from universities but also enthusiastic backing from partners, including sponsors, media agencies, broadcasters, and venue supporters.

A key contributor to the success of the award has been the involvement and close attention from the esteemed judges.

The 2024 Outstanding Landscape Architecture Graduation Project Award was launched and carried out from June 4 to August 30 of this year. During this period, the organizing committee received numerous projects from students at universities across the country. All of the submitted works were exemplary and impressive, with bold proposals of new ideas, showcasing the creative abilities of the authors as well as the guidance and mentorship provided by faculty members in shaping and training the future workforce of the landscape architecture industry.

The First Prize was awarded to student Phan Nguyễn Mạnh Tân from the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, for the project “Landscape Architecture Design for Cu Lao Dat Village, An Binh Hamlet, An Hiep Commune, Ba Tri District, Ben Tre Province,” supervised by Dr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn.

The Second Prize was awarded to the following students:

  1. Nguyễn Phúc Hậu, University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, for the project “Landscape Design for Abyssal Odyssey Resort, an Interactive Marine Life Experience Resort, Bai Tien, Vinh Hoa, Nha Trang,” supervised by Dr. Nguyễn Cẩm Dương Ly.
  2. Trần Thị Khánh Ngân, University of Architecture, Ho Chi Minh City, for the project “Landscape Architecture Design for a Salt Field in Phuong Cuu Hamlet, Combining Ecological Experience Space and a Self-Sustaining Marine Farming Model in Nai Lagoon, Ninh Hai, Ninh Thuan,” supervised by Master Hồ Viết Vinh.

The Third Prize was awarded to the following students:

  1. Đoàn Tấn Dương, University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, for the project “Urban Design for Phước Hải Fishing Village, located in the center of Phước Hải Town, Đất Đỏ District, Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu,” supervised by Master Trần Trung Vĩnh.
  2. Phan Thị Thu Trúc, University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, for the project “Landscape Architecture Planning and Design for Bản Gun Khuổi Ky Ancient Stone Village, in Đàm Thuỷ Commune, Trùng Khánh District, Cao Bằng Province,” supervised by Dr. Phạm Thị Ái Thủy.

The Encouragement Prize was awarded to the following students:

  1. Tô Thị Thu Trang, Danang Architecture University for the project “Vĩnh Hằng Park, Nghệ An Province,” supervised by Master Trương Kim Minh Châu.
  2. Nguyễn Quốc Thịnh, Ton Duc Thang University, for the project “Landscape Design for Agricultural Tourism Experience Area in Phường 7, Da Lat City, Lâm Đồng Province,” supervised by Dr. Lê Hoàng Nam.
  3. Dương Thái Hưng, University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, for the project “Design of a Landscape Axis Integrating Creative Space and Art Installation Exhibitions Reflecting the Identity of Saigon’s River Urban Area along the Tẻ Canal, District 4, Ho Chi Minh City,” supervised by Master Đỗ Thuỳ Linh.

The business award was given to Huynh Nhat Thong, the business award was chosen by Gia Khang Company to present the award.

Contributing to the success of these outstanding projects are not only the students but also the dedicated guidance and passionate mentorship from the esteemed faculty members. The beautiful bouquets from the students serve as a token of gratitude to their professors for their invaluable support.

Thus, the event series “Vietnam Landscape Architecture Trends Seminar 2025” and “Award Ceremony for the 2024 Outstanding Graduation Projects in Landscape Architecture” have come to a close, marking the beginning of a promising next chapter!
